April 9 in Miscellaneous Builds
Last year I’ve been working on this ’ French continental’ project. A layout where my trains in normal and metric gauge can circulate. It is placed right in front of me above my working table where I build brass train kits and SW buildings. Since I’ve build all but one O scale SW building kit ( waiting for the foundry) I had some time to finish , or almost, details can always be added…, this layout. Everything ( but the figurines) is home brewed
Who can spot the very few SW details..?
Buildings are made out of cardboard, plaster, wood and all sorts of natural materials. The rocks are made of a mixture of plaster, sanding dust and white glue from moulds I made of real rocks. Trees are about 12 to 18 inches high and made with the twisted wire method. ( there is a thread of mine on this) Here you have an impression of the layout. Pics with trains will follow.. ![]()

Very well done Robert as usual. The weathering, scenery, and textures are very realistic. I used to have a compost bin that looked a lot like that one.

Beautifully done Robert! Really nice seeing your interpretation of the French countryside. What a motivating backdrop while working at your bench.

amazing looking layout. it reminds me quite a bit of another masterpiece, troels kirk’s coast line railroad, (except his was set in maine). it saddens me to know that i will never attain your level of modeling, for a plethora of reasons… ![]()

This is quite the display, Robert. It looks so real with the landscaping and numerous details that bring it all to life. What a great job. Thanks.
