Mail Call: The kind of work I want to come in to!

Great looking kit, and packed very well as always. Todays lunch reading will be going over the manual, then hopefully construction will begin very soon.

Thank you Brett for another amazing kit and great service!

After looking through the instructions, I decided to jump in and start the Mack truck. With some other surprises planned for the mill build, I feel a service truck will work better rather than just a flatbed, so after digging out a few other Sierra West boxes of bits, a mockup has been created.

I hope to start painting some of the parts today and then get a better feel for the overall layout/look. stay tuned…

Nifty idea Aaron. Highlights the versatility & utility of those gorgeous SWSMs 3D prints…

splashed a little color on lunch today to get a feel for it. the truck body looks bright due to lighting, but is a flat white that will get grunged a bit and some rusting. Colors could change some, we’ll see once its back on the bench.

Looking forward to your build, your weathering is always so well done. Love the idea of the flat bed load, especially the air compressor. That’s exactly what I had in mind when the sleds were added.

Thanks Brett, I hope I can do this one justice.

Colors are on and first layers of grunge put in, now for the detail weathering. The wood deck still needs worked over some, as well as some detailed painting on compressor. The frame had a slight warp when I started, but didn’t realize how bad it got during the painting process till I had it together (what I get for leaving it sit in the sun to paint and dry for a bit lol). But rather than try straightening it, I think I’ll “weld” some patches on each side to look like a bent/broken frame happened at some point and they just pieced it back together.

Love that last shot Aaron! That compressor, with its awesome detail, looks great sitting on the Mac. I like the light color used on the Mac as well. Turning out to be a nifty piece.

Thank you Ken, quite an honor coming from the master. I plan to tackle the compressor tonight as far as weathering to make things pop, but loving how it looks on this. Spent my lunch break adding some dirt to the tires and some dry brushing and scrapes around a few areas. Starting to come together.

Very well done. That head on shot is a money shot, so cool. Great job.

Been slow with progress lately with life and all, but chipped away a little more on the service truck this past weekend. Gonna take some scrap wood and make a box around the goods in the back.
With a lot of inspiration from the farm going into the build, I decided to add a little touch here as well. Any tractor or running equipment, whether in the shed or not, had an old coffee can covering the stack at grandpa’s place, so instead of adding a rain cap like I was planning to the compressor, I decided to dig out one of Brett’s cans and paint it up to cover it. Hope to button this up and get onto the mill this weekend

Hi Aaron:
Your truck looks great and I really like the compressor. I like the color you also chose for the body. Very well done. Thanks.

Really nice! All the colors you chose really create an eye catching model and the weathering brings them all together.

Today I was following a pickup towing a small trailer that was wagging the dog. He had a welder behind the axle so the weight placement was causing the problem. You have mounted the compressor forward so you still have weight on the front tires. Sorry, I’m an engineer and notice this stuff.
You have done an incredible job on this truck. Lost of interest to catch the eye…Rick

Afraid not at this time. I hope to get back to it soon now that the weather is getting better
