I would recommend “Working in the Woods” by Ken Drushka. Lots of practical and inspirational modeling information and photographs. Particularly the drawings included showing the details of skidded, tight skyline, heelboom, slackline, boom loading, and highland rigs. I have suggested this book many times over the years.
How about you? What would you suggest?

Don’t want to sound like a suckup but when I’ve been asked this in the past I always say you should read the instruction manuals from 3 large kits from 3 different manufacturers typically SW, FSM and SRMW if I could only recommend one single book it would be the instructions for the O scale Brass and Iron Foundry.
RAILROADS IN THE WOODS by John Labbe and Vernon Goe published in 1961 is a book that is full of logging pictures and descriptions. It is a book you can just thumb through to get excited about building something. I have more than 20 books related to logging and I consider this the best one for inspiration.
