i reached out to the director of the historical society and it sounds like i’ll be getting some additonal information from her next week. i asked her if there were any construction drawings from the 1976 rebuild, and she didn’t say no, so…i’m hoping.
so far i haven’t heard anything from the historian.
meanwhile, back at the bench, i’ve made some progress on the water wheel:
somehow i screwed up the order of the pics, but you get the gist. this has been a fun build so far. i just regret not being able to make it round like the prototype.
The wheel looks very well done. I wonder now that it’s all together can you hand sand the outside to make it more curved? I would be very happy with the way it is though.
i’ve been agonizing over that.
it would entail edge gluing more boards to the outer edge, and then trying to sand them round(ish) and hope the glue holds. i just don’t think it would. as much as it irritates me, i’m gonna have to be happy with this and call it “artistic license”.
Sounds like a good modeling call.
Looking good Kev. I like the addition of the metal angle supports.
thanks tom. the prototype had em so i figured i had to. 112 nbw’s in all.
