HO Backwoods Tie Mill

Main Tie Mill equipment is looking great Tom. Look forward to seeing them in place on the diorama. I like the green you’re using, has that aged faded look.

Machinery looks fantastic, love the coloring, peeling paint, and weathering. These little gems will be the perfect foundation for your Tie Mill.

Thanks Brett and Ken. The green is just a craft paint from Michael’s or Hobby Lobby. Can’t remember. It’s Anita’s Leaf Green.

Tom. Great job on those excellent prints! You’re making good progress!

Very nice work! I’m enjoying following along with your build. Looking forward to your updates.

I finished painting and weathering the engine today. In the process I lost both levers! And they’re going to stay lost! Boy, is that tiny stuff.

That’s why I decided to model in O scale, Alan. Awesome work on these tiny details, Tom!

Alan, fortunately I only broke 1 lever. A small piece of wire made a suitable substitute. My big clumsy hands don’t help with those small parts. It’s still fun working with all those incredible details.

Hard to believe but I found both levers eventually and CA’ed them back.

Alan, great! Now be careful so they don’t come off again. I knocked the wire off mine a couple times before I finally finished it.

I’ve had to pause this build. I don’t have any “logs” for the diorama, and since we have several inches of snow on the ground I’m waiting for it to melt so I can forage some “logs”. So I decided to build the truck. I did a Google search to try to figure out colors and such. I decided on a green for the body. I also liked the builds that have been posted with sides on the flatbed. So that is what I did. Here are my finished photos.

So now, what to do with the tank that came with the kit? I really liked the resin castings Brett used to sell. I have an extensive collection of them. One in particular is a tank on a smell shed.

So I decided to make my own version.

I don’t know where I’ll use it, but I have a nice extra detail on hand.

AB Flatbed looks great Tom! Color choice was a good one. What a classic vehicle Brett came up with, just love the look. That nostalgic resin casting is a cool one. Nice work on repurposing the tank from the AB Flatbed kit. Makes for a nifty little detail.

Tom, the AB Flatbed looks amazing. Love the coloring and weathering. I am so amazed at the awesome variety everyone has achieved with this little truck!

Tommich the truck is outstanding. The details that cinch it for me are the wrapped chain on the front bumper.

The truck looks great along with your water tank.

Love the truck and what you threw in the back. Just like it would be, nice job. That tank detail is awesome. Great job with that too.

Great job on both those details Tom. They will breathe life into any scene you incorporate them into.

Top notch weathering.

Thanks for the nice comments guys. It’s always fun working with quality details and parts, and finding inspiration from all of you on this forum.
