Kebmos o scale sawmill

not exactly jammin’. my son came over with a song he’d written and asked if i wanted to play on it. we were seeing if i still could.

I am using 1” foam….and found at the Lowes near me 1/2” foam to use up on the back part of the mill …..it’s out there…just hard to find

what part of the world are you in art? i’ve been to two home depots and a menard’s and amazon. i’ve got some foam in the garage that i think i can make work with a stanley sureform, (and a shopvac). all my piers are the same length, but i’ve got an idea that i think will work. i’m not saying anything about it until i’m pretty sure it’ll work. right now i’m at the hopeful stage…. lol.

Great job on the foundation. btw, polystyrene sheets are a common type of rigid foam board housing insulation and can be found on Amazon in many sizes, colors and thicknesses. I will be including this info in future manuals but this product (made in china unfortunately) was not available when I printed the sawmill manual and I do not go back and edit old manuals.

hernia repair complete.
i got the base put together day before yesterday. i ended up using a piece of 2” foam, with a piece of 1/2” for the sloping area. not quite what brett did, but i think it’ll work.

Kevin, glad to hear your surgery went well. I cannot recall anything in the build that would be a problem with 1/2” separation, looking forward to your future posts. Ray

ive been saving up my sawdust since i finished the woodcutters shack just for the sawmill build. there’s gonna be alot more….

The only chain that carries the green foam is Lowes…..HD carries the pink Owens Corning stuff….but I like the green better. Not sure of the manufacter…Its denser….carves better….and seems to hold up better. Any foam that sits out in UV light will degrade. I paint all my foam with an acrylic tan color. it helps seal the foam…..and is a good base for ground cover. And I use grout for my soil. Costs way too much to use a diorama soil.

Looking good, Kevin. Like the progress you’re making. Just as an FYI, I get sawdust from Home Depot. The wood section where they cut wood for customers usually has lots of sawdust so I go there with a bag and collect it, which they are good with. Take care.
