SW Blue Sky Company Warehouse

Hey Curt, I find the varied roof structures to be exceptionally well-executed. I eagerly anticipate how they will appear in the weathered version.

Curt, I like the various roofing materials. It adds some variety.

Thanks for the update on the roofing, looking forward to seeing the weathered versions!

Love the variation. Very visually interesting. They’re gonna look great once weathered.

Afternoon All,

Thank you Jen for the kind words.

Tommich thanks for following along and your thoughts.

Brett thanks for watching. This is a great kit.

Travis thank you for your support.

Since the last post I have weathered the 3 roofs with Brown, ash gray, and medium gray powders. Under the water tank I tried to show some pipe leakage by a thinned light green craft paint and some gloss added to it. I also added NBW’s on the water tank frame.

The chimney for the office was missing in the kit which I bought second hand so I didn’t try to get a replacement, and used a detail part I had.

The store stacks were first blackened then painted with a weathered steel color followed by a random coat of thinned rust powder then some black weathering powder.

Next up is the cook house.

Weathering looks great and those are a nice looking set of stacks.

Weathering on the roofs really blends them together nicely.

I am captivated by the weathering of all three roofs, each bearing a distinct, aged patina. The leaking water tank is a particularly evocative detail. Well done, Curt. Perhaps you could apply a touch of color or blackening to the rear stack’s support structure.

Nice weathering on the roof work Curt, particularly like the shake roof. Your finish on those shakes are beautifully done.

Afternoon All,

Travis thank you.

tommich I was concerned about the blue and green initially.

JenS thanks for the suggestion. I can’t believe I missed that!

Ken thank you for your kind words.

Today I finished the cook house.

First I sprayed the walls light gray followed by a concrete wash. After that, the stones were painted in 4 shades of gray, then a light coat of A&I. Finally, I used brown powder and 2 shades of gray powder.

The wood was painted brown then lightly powdered with brown and black. I used dark tone under the wall vent and air openings.

I decided to do a standing seam roof with thin styrene (for sale sign) and 2x3 strip wood. It was initially sprayed with red oxide and then weathered heavily to match the other roofs.

Next up is the side stairs which I’m not very good at.

Looks fantastic. I love the colouring and textures you’ve acheived. The cookhouse looks great.

Stonework on the cookhouse looks great. standing seam roof is a nice touch

What a fantastic job you’ve done on all of this. Congratulations. That stonework is awesome.

I agree, stone work looks great. Love that first pic with all the various materials and textures coming together in that one small area!

Curt, I read through the entire build this afternoon, excellent work, very nicely done. A couple of things caught my eye. The signs on the wall are outstanding, they look like they have naturally aged, the stonework is very nice, the whole build is turning out nicely, well done.

Ray

Afternoon All,

Joel thank you for the compliment.

Tommich thank you for your kind words.

JimM thank you for following and your kind words.

Ken thank you. The first picture has a mistake on the barn corner (not enough overhang).

Ray thank you. I find that Brett’s quality kits make me want to be a better modeler.

Today I finished the exterior stairs. They are colored with dusty brown, reddish brown, and ash gray.

I added more structure supports, NBW’s, and modified the railings a little. The stairs aren’t perfect but honestly they turned out better than I expected when I started on them.

Nicely done Curt! The little extras add a lot of character. Coming along splendidly.

Stairs look great. Love the NBW addition

Everything looks to fine here. Well done!

Great job Curt, everything looks wonderful. I am really enjoying watching you add your own personality to this build!
